Hulme’s Last Minute Goal Secures Victory at LTU for Women’s Soccer, Clinches WHAC Tournament Spot

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team entered the final day of the 2024 regular season in a tie for seventh and eighth place in the WHAC standings and hit the road for a game against ninth place Lawrence Tech. The Warriors would need at least a tie to clinch their spot in the postseason with the Blue Devils just two points behind them.

A scoreless first half meant the Warriors were halfway to postseason play, but Lawrence Tech had the edge on the Orange & Black with more scoring chances. With the Blue Devils getting desperate, needing a win to keep their season alive, the chances started to increase. However, Tech goalkeeper Sara Cogoli would play outstanding in goal to keep the Blue Devils off the board. Although a tie would be good enough to advance the Warriors, Tech would have more in mind. With under five minutes to go, Abbie Hulme would score the game winning goal for Indiana Tech to secure their place in the tournament and eliminate the Blue Devils by a score of 1-0. Cogoli would finish the game with nine saves in goal for the Warriors, picking up the win.

The Warriors finish the regular season at 6-9-3 overall on the season and 5-5-2 in WHAC play. With Madonna losing to Cornerstone, the Warriors were able to grab the #7 seed in the tournament and will face conference runner up #2 seed University of Northwestern Ohio in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, November 6th in Lima, Ohio.
