Warriors Cruise Past Cougars in Lansing

LANSING, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team traveled to Lansing, Michigan, on Saturday afternoon to take on the Cleary University Cougars in a WHAC matchup. Tech put on a dominant display, downing the second-year program 88-45.  With the Warriors' win, head coach Jessie Biggs picks up her 301st win at Tech, which ties Tech's all-time wins record for a women's basketball head coach.
 
The Warriors got out of the gate quickly, opening the game on an 11-5 run through the opening four minutes. The quick burst from Tech set the tone for the afternoon, and the Warriors quickly saw their first double-digit lead off a triple from Korryn Smith at the 5:16 mark. Tech continued to grow their lead in the final five minutes, taking a 27-11 advantage into the second quarter. The Warriors kept rolling in the second quarter as their offense was efficient, scoring twenty points on 7-16 shooting, while their defense held the Cougars to nine points and forced six turnovers to take a 47-20 lead into the midway break.
 
Out of the break, the Warriors continued on the same path they were treading in the first half, stretching their lead to as much as 39 in the third frame before taking a 66-31 lead into the final quarter. The Warriors cruised through the fourth on 55.6% shooting, adding to their lead before settling for an 88-45 final.
 
Ava Ziolkowski posted a team-high fourteen points off the bench, adding two rebounds and two steals. Taylor Covington chipped in thirteen points, four assists, and six steals. Jaidyn Gulley added eleven points and four rebounds. Genevieve Decker had ten points, a team-high eight rebounds, and three assists. Juliana Burris led the side with seven assists and tallied six points.
 
The Warriors sit at 5-3 on the season and move to 2-0 in conference play. Next up for Tech is a home game against the University of Michigan Dearborn Wolverines on Tuesday, November 26, at 6:00 p.m.
