FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team returned to the floor on Wednesday morning as they hosted the Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) for their "kids game," during which the Warriors welcomed students from local elementary schools. The Orange and Black put on a show for the young spectators, downing the Crimson Wave 100-30.
The Warriors set the tone right out of the gate, scoring the game's first six points. Tech continued to work quickly in the opening quarter and saw their first double-digit lead as a lay-in from
Jaidyn Gulley put Tech up 16-5 at the 4:48 mark. Tech continued their efficient offense through the remainder of the quarter, led by
Genevieve Decker and
Gabby Richie with six points each. The Warriors continued to stretch their lead in the second quarter on the back of freshman
Ava Ziolkowski's eleven-point frame, taking a 53-21 lead into the intermission. Out of the break, the Warriors picked up right where they left off in the first half offensively, while the defense held firm, holding the Crimson Wave to nine points in the final two quarters for a 100-30 Warrior victory.
Tech had five players score double figures, led by
Ava Ziolkowski with 27 points, knocking down 7 of her 12 attempts from beyond the three-point line.
Gabby Richie posted 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 steals.
Genevieve Decker added 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Jaidyn Gulley posted her first career double-double as a Warrior with 10 points and 12 rebounds while adding 5 assists.
Maddie Mueller was the fifth Warrior to score double-digits with 10 points in only 9 minutes played.
Tech now sits at 3-1 on the season and will hit the road for their next contest, traveling to Marion, Indiana, to take on the No. 3 ranked Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan on Tuesday, November 12, at 6:00 p.m.
