FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The #13 ranked Indiana Tech Men's hockey team took a two-game series sweep this past weekend against Concordia University, winning 4-1 at home on Friday night and 6-1 on the road Saturday. Friday's win would be another milestone for the Warriors as head coach
Frank DiCristofaro hit his 250
th career win. The Michigan native entered the season with a 241-138-2 career record and a 227-118-1 record over ten seasons at Tech. After the weekend, the Warriors now sit at 10-2-0 overall and 8-0-0 in WHAC play. With the ten wins so far this season, DiCristofaro now sits at 251 career wins and 237 Indiana Tech wins as he approaches the 250 mark with Tech as well. The Warriors have 18 more regular season games this season before postseason play.
In game one,
Jeremy Dunmore opened the game with a goal in the first period, assisted by
Mason Bazaluk, giving Indiana Tech an early 1-0 lead. The second period remained scoreless, but Indiana Tech's offense came alive in the third period, starting with
Brandon Plummer's unassisted goal at 9:17. Not long after,
Michael Dalaly extended the lead to 3-0 at 12:45 in the third period assisted by
Malik Ali and
Aidan Dufort. Indiana Tech continued to press as
Bobby Hathcock added to the scoreboard at 14:33 with assists from
Francesco Santaniello and Ali, who picked up his second assist of the night. Concordia managed to get on the board late in the period, but Indiana Tech sealed the period off with a 4-1 win at home. Goaltender
Gage Reimer played a total of 60 minutes saving 21 out of 22 shots on net.
In game two, the scoring began in the first period with Indiana Tech's
Alex Arnold finding the net on the power play at 10:20, assisted by
Francesco Santaniello and
Connor Funke. Concordia quickly responded at 13:51 tying the game 1-1. The second period saw Indiana Tech regain the lead as
Austin Sawyer scored at 18:38, with
Ryan Doucette assisting, making it 2-1 with the Warriors taking the lead heading into the third. In the final period, Indiana Tech's offense took control as
Brandon Plummer started the scoring run at 6:15 with an assist from
Luke Anderson and Funke.
Francesco Santaniello added to the lead at 11:39, assisted by
Pavel Svoboda, and the Warriors scored again on the power play as
Aidan Dufort scored at 14:17 with an assist from
Malik Ali. Plummer capped off the game with his second goal at 18:42, assisted once again by Ali, bringing the final score to 6-1 for the Warriors on the road. Goaltender
Gage Reimer played a total of 60 minutes and saved 21 out of 22 shots.
The Warriors are back in action next weekend as they play another two-game series against Aquinas College, one game on the road in Byron Center, Michigan on Friday, November 15
th, and one game back in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse on Saturday, November 16
th at 7:30 pm.
