FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Indiana Tech track and field teams opened up their 2024-25 indoor season on Friday afternoon as they hosted the Warrior Opener at the Doug Edgar Track in Fort Wayne.  It was a first opportunity to see outside competition, allowing the Warriors to shake off the dust while also capturing ten NAIA standards.

Highlights:

• Kiya Pogue secured her spot at nationals with "A" standards in the 60 meters (7.55) and 60 hurdles (8.43).
• The men's long jump crew put four NAIA "B" standards on the board.  Darian Long (7.24m), Woodrow Smith (7.16m), Davarri Barthell (7.11m), and Shawn Wilhite (7.08m) all moved one step closer to nationals.
• Esau Haynes captured the NAIA "A" standard in the 60 meters in 6.74.  Freshman James Thornton IV also picked up a "B" standard in the event in 6.80.
• The Warriors picked up two NAIA "B" standards in the men's 60 hurdles with Jackie Saye running an 8.14 and Collins Mokuah an 8.15.

• Women's 200m: Aaliyah Frederick, 26.11
• Women's 60m Hurdles: Kiya Pogue, 8.54
• Women's Triple Jump: Dakyra Howard, 11.38m
• Women's Shot Put: Raigen Horsfall, 11.52m

• Men's Pole Vault: #7 Angel Toledo
• Men's Shot Put: #9 Christian Dixon

The Warriors will now break for the holiday season before returning to action on January 17th when they host the Warrior Invitational.
