ALLENDALE, Mich. – It's fair to say
Soyinne Grenyion's transition to the 400 meters has gone well. On Friday, in just her third career indoor 400, Grenyion ran a 54.10 to establish a new school record in the event. The performance highlighted a fantastic list of results from both the GVSU Big Meet and the Marian Indoor Invitational.
Grenyion's mark at GVSU bested the previous school record of 54.35, set by Kirsten Flake in 2014. Grenyion currently sits #1 in the nation in the event.
Additional highlights from the GVSU Big Meet and Marian Indoor Invitaitonal:
- Huge results in the men's 600m as Aaron Heisser PR's in 1:19.08 and Braden Crosby is right behind in 1:19.90. Heisser moves up to #5 all-time at Tech while Crosby converts his "B" standard to an "A" and goes to #9 all-time.
- The women's 4x400 team of Soyinne Grenyion, Jo'Deci Irby, Junae Bennett, and Kayla Moody wins the Big Meet in 3:44.75. It's an all-time #6 mark at Tech and is currently the #1 time in the NAIA!
- Ngor Agwick hits the NAIA "B" standard in a PR of 1:54.99. That's #8 all-time in Tech history for an indoor 800! Korey Allen isn't far behind in a PR of 1:55.80 (just .69 off the freshman school record) and Dylan Banda returns to the track in an indoor PR of 1:56.17.
- Kiya Pogue finishes 4th in the women's 60h in 8.58. Katlyn Jones is 8th in 8.64.
- Ahumad Williams wins the 60 hurdles in 7.89! That's a season-best for Williams and an NAIA #3 mark.
- Miles Gray is just .01 off his PR in finishing 2nd in the 400m in a 47.68.
- Victor Rodriguez clears 4.58m (15'0.25") in the men's pole vault for a season-best. He's just .07 off the "B" mark.
- Anajah Gomillia is Tech's top finisher in the women's long jump in a season-best 5.47. She's just .05 off the "B" standard.
- Darian Long takes 3rd in the men's long jump at Marian in 6.98 (22'10.75").
- Davarri Barthell's debut in the 200m results in an all-time top-25 mark of 22.06.
- Jo'Deci Irby finishes 2nd in the 600m in a season best of 1:33.18.
The Warriors return to action next weekend in Grand Rapids to defend their league title at the WHAC Championships.
