FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Warrior men's basketball team took care of business in the Schaefer Center on Wednesday evening, handing the visiting University of Michigan-Dearborn a 113-73 loss. With the win this evening, the Orange and Black move to 15-10 on the season and sit at 13-6 within WHAC competitions.
Tech got off to a quick start, leading wire to wire. Their first double-digit lead of 13-2 came just five minutes into the first half, thanks to a trifecta from
Dallas Roberts. The Warriors continued their run through the opening 10 minutes and, courtesy of another long ball from Roberts, saw their lead swell to 20 at the 10:21 mark. The Warriors played solid defense through the opening 20 minutes, but the story of the first half was Tech's high-octane offense. Seemingly, every shot found the bottom of the net as the hosts shot 70.6% from the field while going 13-18 from beyond the three-point line. As a result, the Warriors took a 65-31 lead into the midway break.
The second half was more closely contested as the Warriors' offense slowed down, and the Wolverine Offense started to see some threes fall, but Tech continued to control the game. For Dearborn, Yassin Mohamed knocked down five threes to try and cut into the Tech lead, but
Crew Gibson's 13 second-half points kept the Warriors one step ahead on the way to a 113-73 win. Tech shot 59.4% from the floor, knocking down 41 shots on 69 attempts while making 19 threes on 33 attempts.
The Orange and Black had six players score double digits, led by
Crew Gibson with a game-high 23 points, adding 6 rebounds and 2 assists.
Dallas Roberts had a double-double with 16 points, 13 assists, and 3 rebounds.
Steve Helm, Steel Brasfield, and
Conner West scored 12 points each.
Max Perez added 11 points and 3 assists.
Javel Lewis was 2 points shy of a double-double but corralled a game-high 12 boards.
Next up for Tech is a 3:00 p.m. tip-off with the No. 2 team in the conference on Saturday afternoon when they host Lourdes University.
