Warriors Take Down No. 13 Lourdes on Senior Day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – It was sweet revenge for the Indiana Tech men's basketball team as they pulled off the upset over the 13-ranked Lourdes University Gray Wolves on Saturday afternoon, 69-65, on senior day. Today's four-point win avenges a three-point loss the Warriors suffered on the road in January. The Orange and Black improved to 16-10 overall and 14-6 in conference play.

The two sides went toe-to-toe in an action-packed opening ten minutes that featured two lead changes and three ties. With the game knotted at 15, the visitors went on a short 5-0 run to gain a lead they would hold for the next seven minutes until a jumper from Steele Brasfield at 3:15 gave the Warriors their first lead since the 11:12 mark. Brady Titus had the last say in the frame, hitting a tough jumper while getting fouled and converting the three-point play to take a 32-28 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, the Warriors kept the lead they had established through the opening ten minutes, stretching the lead to 8 multiple times, but every time they threatened to pull away, the Gray Wolves had a response to keep the game within reach. The visitors pulled even at the 10:10 mark, compliments of a three from Nic Borojevich. Lourdes would tie the game one more time a minute later, but a jumper from Lucas Lyyski but the Orange and Black up for good. Tech extended their lead to eight, but Lourdes cut it back to 2 with a minute left. With two fouls to give, Albert's crew put together one of their best defensive possessions of the season, forcing the visitors to inbound the ball three times and eat up some valuable seconds in the final minute before a contested shot went long and was tracked down by Brady Titus. With the game on the line, Titus stepped up and knocked down a pair of clutch free throws to put Tech up 4. Lourdes had one last chance but came up short as the Warrior held on to win 69-65.

Lucas Lyyski led the Warriors in scoring with 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists. Javel Lewis had 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal. Brady Titus had 13 points, going 7-7 from the charity stripe, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. Dallas Roberts had 10 points and 3 rebounds.

The Warriors host their last home game of the 2023-24 regular season on Wednesday evening, welcoming Concordia University to Fort Wayne for a game at 8:00 p.m.
