Foy Surpasses 2,000 Career Points in Win Over Saints

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team completed the season sweep of Aquinas College after asserting their dominance over the Saints on Saturday afternoon, winning 78-54. The Warriors claimed an 11-point 71-60 win over the Saints in their first meeting of the season back in December. The Warriors have handled business against Aquinas as of late, winning in their last 11 meetings.

It was a slow start to the contest, with both teams trying to get a feel for the game in the opening five minutes. A long ball from Korryn Smith off a feed from Amaris Lowery sparked a 13-4 run over the next 4 minutes, which saw the Warriors take a 9-point advantage. The Saints claimed the last bucket of the quarter to cut the lead to 6. A struggling Saints offense in the second quarter paired with 16 points from Erika Foy helped extend the Warrior lead to 17 points, taking a 44-27 lead into the break.

The Saints cut the Warriors lead to 14 points in the opening 3 minutes of the third quarter, but threes from the Warriors on three straight possessions midway through the third quarter ensured the Saints wouldn't get any closer. In the final frame, the Orange and Black didn't let up, stretching their lead to 24 in the closing minute to win 78-54.

Erika Foy entered the game 2 points shy of 2,000 in her career, and she led all scorers with 30 points to surpass the career milestone, becoming just the second Warrior to eclipse that threshold. She also added 5 rebounds and 2 blocks to her stat line.

Tech improves to 19-3 and continues their unblemished conference record, sitting at 16-0. The Warriors hit the road in their next game, traveling to Southfield, Michigan, to take on Lawrence Tech in Don Ridler Field House at 5:30 p.m.
