ASHLAND, Ohio – In the shortest distance, the Indiana Tech track and field teams saw some of their biggest marks over the weekend. With the majority of the varsity squad competing in the Jud Logan Light Giver Open at Ashland University in Ohio, wins by
Esau Haynes and
Jamaya Warthen highlighted another day of PR's and NAIA standards as the team starts gearing up for the postseason.
Esau Haynes earned the win in the men's 60m in a PR of 6.69, a mark that moves him up to #3 on the all-time Indiana Tech list. He's also currently ranked #3 in the nation in the event.
Jamaya Warthen enjoyed a huge breakthrough in the women's 60m, collecting PR's in both the prelims and the finals. Her time of 7.44 jumps her all the way from #6 to #3 on the all-time Tech list and, like Haynes, she ranks 3rd in the nation in the sprint.
Soyinne Grenyion ran just off her PR in the 400m, winning easily in 54.59. She won the event by a second and a half and currently ranks #2 in the nation.
While much of the team competed at Ashland, a large contingent also went down to Marion for the IWU Midwest Classic.
Addtionally, on Friday night, the women's DMR team of
Krista Boese,
Kayla Moody,
McKenna Palmer, and
Lisa Voyles made the most of an invitation to Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational, winning the event in 11:56.82, capturing an "A" standard, and grabbing the current #1 time in the nation.
More highlights from the weekend:
- Jamaya Warthen (23.81) and Soyinne Grenyion (23.83) go 1-2 in the 200m at Ashland. Warthen's time moves her up to #3 on the all-time list.
- Men's 4x400 team of Miles Gray, Kamari Rush, Braden Crosby, Aaron Heisser hit the "A" standard on their way to a win in 3:11.73. A fantastic midseason mark, the quartet go to #9 on the all-time Tech list.
- Men's DMR team of Korey Allen (1200), Collins Mokuah (400), Ngor Agwick (800), Giulio Romano (1600) goes 10:12.49 to earn the NAIA "B" standard at Ashland. It's also the all-time #5 mark in school history.

A season-best 7.89 for Ahumad Williams and PR and new #3 all-time mark of 7.92 for Javon Sanders lead the way in the 60m hurdles at Ashland.
- Kiya Pogue (8.56) and Katlyn Jones (8.62) make it a 1-2 Indiana Tech sweep in the 60h finals at Ashland. It's a season-best for Jones.

Carlie Turner jumps to a season-best 5.64m (18'6") in the women's long jump at Ashland to finish 2nd.
- Competing in the elite pole vault field at Ashland, which included Tokyo Olympic Gold Medalist Katie Moon, freshman Evelyn Dolce tops out at 3.65m.
- The Warriors' top four finishers in the men's 200m at Ashland all ran PR's: David Slick (21.82), Miles Gray (22.07), Kamari Rush (22.13), Tyler Dixon (22.26).
- At Ashland, Korey Allen cracks the Tech top ten in the mile at 4:21.14! Juan Caballero is right behind at 4:24.65.
- Junae Bennett ran a big PR in the 400m (56.77) which moves her to #15 on the all-time Tech indoor list.
- Darian Long wins the men's long jump in a PR of 7.30m (23'11.5") at Ashland.
- In his Tech debut, Mekhi Oliver wins the men's triple jump at IWU in 12.95m (42'6").
- Miles Gray finishes 2nd in the men's 400m at Ashland in a season-best of 47.99. Kamari Rush with a PR of over a second in 48.96.
- Parrish Smith finishes 2nd in the men's 60m at IWU in a new PR of 6.91.
- Ngor Agwick is just off the "B" standard in the 800m with a PR of 1:55.80. He moves up to #11 on the all-time list. Giulio Romano also with a great 800m debut in 1:56.05, less than a second off the freshman record.
The Warriors return to action on Friday at the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Michigan and the Marian Indoor Invite in Indianapolis.
