CHICAGO, Ill. – The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team traveled to Chicago, Illinois, on Friday evening for a match with No. 11 ranked Saint Xavier University. After Tech took the first set, the Cougars stormed back to win three straight and take the match 3-1.
The two teams went toe-to-toe in the opening set, with neither squad giving an inch. Trailing 14-15, the Orange and Black went on a short 4-0 run to retake the lead. Tech maintained their three-point lead through the remainder of the set, hanging on to claim the opener 25-22. The second set started like the first, but as the hosts led 10-11, they took advantage of a 5-1 run to stretch their lead and ride that momentum to a 25-19 victory. The third set started with the two sides trading 3-0 and 4-0 runs until a 10-3 run saw the Cougars take the set 25-14. The fourth set was a battle, with both teams lobbying for any advantage. Coming down to the wire, Tech had a slight advantage at 22-21, but the hosts answered the call with a 4-0 run to close the match.
Mason Milan led the squad with 11 kills.
Mario Capo had the Warrior's lone ace of the day.
Raekwon Rogers led the team with 4 blocks.
Brandon Jones added 20 assists, and
Alex Rosenow held down the back row with 8 digs.
Next up for Tech is a conference battle with the Lourdes University Gray Wolves on Tuesday evening in Sylvania, Ohio, starting at 7:00 p.m.
