Warriors Outdueled by Spartans in Tight Battle

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The (RV) Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team hosted the No. 7 ranked Missouri Baptist Spartans in a home game at Warrior Athletic Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors' Faith Donally would score the first goal just over one minute into the game on a pass from Brooke Buhr. However, Missouri Baptist would then take over, going on an 8-1 run over the next quarter and a half as the Spartans would lead 8-2 midway through the second quarter. Tech would score a flurry of late goals from Da'zah Regusters (2) and Donally (1) to close out the half on a high note as the Warriors trailed by three at the break. In the second half, Donally would score her third of the game to make it 6-8 Missouri Baptist, but the Spartans would score the next three goals to extend the lead to five. Regusters would do her best to will the team back into the game scoring four time over the final 15:02 of action, but ultimately would not be enough as the Warriors would drop their first game of the season by a final of 10-12. Regusters would lead the way for the Orange & Black, picking up team highs in goals (6), points (6), draw controls (6), and caused turnovers (3). Michelle Farrell would lead the Warriors with five ground balls, also picking up one goal and one assist. Sydney Oberdorfer would start the game in goal for Tech, making three saves, before being relieved at the start of the second quarter by Kat Hoff, who would play the remaining three quarters in goal, making nine saves.

The Warriors move to 2-1 overall on the season and will host (RV) Ottawa University (Kan.) in their next contest on Wednesday, March 6th at home at 5pm.
