Warriors Take Care of Business with Sweep of Rochester

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech softball team took care of business on Wednesday afternoon, taking both ends of the WHAC doubleheader over the Rochester Warriors in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Game one favored the Orange and Black 11-3 before Tech took game two 5-1.

In the opener, the Orange and Black opened the game's scoring with two runs in their half of the second inning to grab an early 2-0 lead. In their next trip to the plate, Tech extended their lead, plating four more runs to go up 6-0. The hosts had a response in the bottom of the third, scoring two runs to cut into the Warriors lead, but Tech kept the momentum going, adding two more runs in the top of the fourth to retake a six-run lead. Rochester added one run in the bottom of the fifth, but the Orange and Black's three runs in the top of the sixth ended the game early as they were up by eight. Kenadee Schnick, Grace Butcher, Kennedi Sullivan, and Katie O'Drobinak all had multi-hit games. Sullivan and O'Drobinak led the offense with four RBIs each. Savannah Bravo got the win in game one, throwing two scoreless innings to open the game.

The Warriors kept the offense rolling in the first inning of game two as they brought three runs across the plate off a three-run shot by Kyla Collins. Jayme Koning held Rochester's offense at bay until the fourth inning, when they scored their lone run of the contest. Tech added two more insurance runs in the top of the sixth as they went on to take game two. Koning picked up the win on the mound while also leading the team at the plate, going 3 for 3.

Next up for Tech is another road game, this time in Sylvania, Ohio, for a doubleheader with Lourdes University on Saturday, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
