SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech softball team traveled to Sylvania, Ohio, on Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader with the Lourdes University Gray Wolves. Tech got things done on the road, taking both doubleheader games, 10-1 in game one and 8-7 in game two.
In game one at Gray Wolf Field, the Warriors' offense picked up where it left off in the Rochester doubleheader, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Lourdes responded with a run in the bottom of the first, which would end up being their only run of the game. The Warriors offense continued to hum, adding two runs in the second and six in the top of the third on their way to a 10-1 win in five innings.
Kenadee Schnick and
Kennedi Sullivan led Tech with two hits.
Jayme Koning led the Warriors in RBIs with four as she sent a grand slam over the centerfield fence in her lone at-bat in the third inning.
Savannah Bravo picked up another win in the circle, throwing five innings, allowing three hits, one run, and striking out six.
The host's bats were hot in the early goings of game two as the Gray Wolves tallied four runs in the first two innings. Tech drew level in the top of the third with four runs of their own, but the Gray Wolves regained the lead as their offense continued to put up runs with three more runs in the bottom of the third. After a scoreless inning, Tech's offense came alive again to score four more runs in the top of the fifth inning to take their first lead of the game.
Grace Butcher held the host's offense scoreless in the final four frames to pick up the win in the circle.
Katie O'Drobinak led the offense for Tech with three hits in three at-bats and two RBIs.
The Warriors continue their road stretch with a doubleheader at Lawrence Tech on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
