FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 7 ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team hosted Siena Heights University on Wednesday afternoon in a WHAC contest at Warrior Athletic Field that saw the Warriors pick up their sixth straight win.
The Warriors would start the game off with a 6-0 run to build a lead that would never be lost. Siena Heights would then score four straight goals to cut the Warrior lead to two.
Brooke Buhr would get the Warriors back on track, scoring four of Tech's five goals in the second quarter to give the Orange & Black an 11-5 halftime lead. The Saints would strike first in the third quarter, but then the Warriors would rattle off five straight and six of the next seven goals to 17-7 through three quarters of play. The fourth quarter would be relatively low scoring with Tech taking the period 2-1, going on to win by a final score of 19-8. Buhr would lead the Warriors all across the board, finishing the game with team highs in goals (7), points (9), ground balls (9), and draw controls (8). Buhr would also record two assists in the game, breaking the 100-mark for her career and becoming the all-time assist leader in program history.
Michelle Farrell and
Faith Donally would be effective on the offensive end, finishing with seven and five points respectively, while
Brook Maul would lead the Warriors with three caused turnovers. Tech goalie,
Kat Hoff, would keep her perfect record in net, moving to 8-0 this season, while making eight saves.
With the win, the Warriors improve to 11-3 overall on the season and 6-1 in WHAC play. Tech will face Madonna University on the road in their season finale on Saturday, April 13
th at 4pm.
