Voyles Breaks Two More Records in Weekend Events

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's and women's track teams competed in six total meets this weekend with the women competing in four and the men in two. Both teams would compete in the We Fly Challenge at Ball State University, as well as the Tiffin Track Carnival at Tiffin University. The women would also send three athletes to California to compete in the Pacific Coast Invitational and the Azusa Pacific Bryan Clay Invite. Additional highlights below.

Pacific Coast Invitational:
  • Soyinne Grenyion and Kiya Pogue opened up their weekend in Southern California on Thursday. Grenyion ran 55.30 in the 400m, while Pogue ran the 100 hurdles in 14.37.
Bryan Clay Invitational:
  • Two races, two school records! Lisa Voyles tops her own standard in the 1500m in 4:27.74. She currently sits #1 in the nation in both the 800m and 1500m!
  • Lisa Voyles does it again! The senior breaks her own school record in the 800 meters in 2:07.94.
We Fly Challenge:
  • Esau Haynes set a new junior class record in the 100 meters and ties his all-time #3 mark. His time of 10.29 just edges Matt Lockridge's previous junior record of 10.30 set in 2019. David Slick also runs to a PR of 10.58 to move into the top 20 all-time at Tech.
  • A big performance in the javelin (28.96m) propels Briauna Goins to #7 on the all-time Indiana Tech list.
  • The women's 4x400m team of Moody, Warthen, Bennett, and Olapade runs a season best of 3:52.33 and earns an NAIA 'A' standard. That's currently the #5 time in the NAIA.
  • It's a PR for Miles Gray in the 200m in 21.71.
  • Denise Turpin collects a PR in the triple jump at 10.84m.
  • Carlie Turner and Valerie Nzeakor both jump 5.82m. For Nzeaker it's a PR, a new #7 all-time mark, and her first NAIA 'A' standard.
  • LaTarsha Moore turns in a mark of 45.50m in the hammer throw to go #2 all-time in the event! It's more than a meter better than her previous best.
  • Leviticus Land throws a PR of 14.83m in the shot put to jump to #8 on the all-time Tech list.
  • Collins Mokuah runs 52.80 in the 400 hurdles to move to #4 in the NAIA. Diego Sekiyama-Nava also with a season best 53.91 to secure an NAIA 'B' standard.
  • Jamaya Warthen moves into a tie for 4th place all-time in the 100m with a time of 11.57.
  • Davarri Barthell (6.88m), Rodrigo Davis (6.83m), Jacquez Lawson (6.63m), and Khalil Carr (6.80m) earn PR's in the men's long jump.
  • Aaliyah Frederick collects a PR in 58.48 to lead the Warriors in the women's 400m.
  • Miles Gray cruises to the win in the 400m in 48.19. Kamari Rush finished 4th in 49.15.
  • Katlyn Jones captures the NAIA 'A' standard in the 110 hurdles in 14.19.
  • Indiana Tech puts four in the top seven in the men's 110 hurdles:
  • Braden Crosby steps up to the 800m and runs a very solid 1:57.98.
  • McKale Hood finishes 2nd in the high jump in 1.95m, tying his outdoor PR.
  • Deanara Mbouge with a big PR in the discus. Her throw of 39.47m is over 2 meters beyond her previous best and moves her all the way up to #3 on the all-time list.
Tiffin Track Carnival:
  • Giulio Romano set a freshman class record in the 1500 meters. His time of 3:57.15 bettered the previous mark of 4:00.03 set by Drew Mueller in 2013. Romano jumps all the way up to #3 on the all-time list.
  • Korey Allen with a huge PR in the 5000m as he runs 14:55.77! He's just eight seconds off the 'B' standard and six away from the Indiana Tech freshman record.
  • Ngor Agwick gets an outdoor PR in the 800m in 1:57.57. Dorian Gaines also earns a PR in 2:03.84.
The Warriors will compete next at the George C. Griffin Track & Field Facility on the campus of Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia on April 19th and 20th.
