FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech softball team wrapped up their conference regular season on Thursday afternoon as the Concordia Cardinals came to town for a doubleheader. Heading into the contest, the Warriors were fourth in the conference while the Cardinals sat in third. The Cardinals took both ends of the doubleheader, with Concordia taking game one 7-1 and two 9-0 in five innings.
It was a battle between the two defenses in the early stages of game one as both sides were held scoreless through four innings. The visitors put the first run on the board as they took advantage of some Tech miscues in the fifth inning. The Cardinals doubled their lead in the sixth, adding another run. Tech answered with a run of their own in the sixth to cut the lead in half. Concordia's offense exploded in the seventh for five runs to take a 7-1 lead and go on to win as they held the Warriors scoreless in the final frame.
The Cardinal's offense continued to see the ball well at the plate as they opened the second game, scoring four runs in the first frame. The visitors extended their lead to 5-0 in the top of the second with another run scored. Concordia's offense continued to stack on runs, with three in the third and one in the fourth. The Cardinals kept the Warrior's offense at bay all game, allowing only two hits on their way to a 9-0 win in five innings.
The Warriors finish their regular season with a non-conference doubleheader starting at noon on Sunday as they host Saint Ambrose University (Iowa).
