Women’s Soccer Blanked by Lancers

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team hit the road for a tough contest at Grace College on Wednesday night that ended in a shutout victory for the hosts.

As the game got underway, Grace would continue their hot start to the season with an early goal in the 10th minute. After a bad clearance from the back resulted in a turnover for Tech, the Lancers would head the ball forward and score a chip shot goal from outside the box over the Warrior keeper to make it 1-0. In the 20th minute, Tech would earn a penalty kick after a Lancer handball in the box. Freshman forward, Nin Way, would step up to take the kick but would rattle the crossbar with the shot as Tech stayed just inches away from equalizing the score at one. Just moments later, after the initial save was made by Tech keeper Ursula Romero, Grace would put the rebound into the back of the net to take a 2-0 lead in a big swing of events. Grace would score a third goal on a corner kick in the 29th minute to open up the game. In the end, the Lancers would control the majority of the game from start to finish, scoring one more goal in the second half and allowing few chances for Tech as the Warriors would go down by a final score of 4-0. Romero would finish the game with four saves and the loss in 45 minutes of action, while Sara Cogoli would make two saves in 45 minutes for the Orange & Black.

The Warriors fall to 0-2-0 now on the season and will be on the road again in their next matchup, which is set for Friday, August 30th against No. 7 ranked Spring Arbor University.
