GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team was back in action on Saturday for a game with WHAC opponent Cornerstone University.
After enjoying their biggest win of the 21
st century on Wednesday, the Warriors came out Saturday like they hadn't missed a beat, scoring under 12 minutes into the game against the Golden Eagles to take a 1-0 lead.
Abbie Hulme and
Alina Garcia would combine on the goal after the pair registered three combined goals on Wednesday. Cornerstone would finish the half with more shots and corners than Tech, but the Warriors would take their 1-0 advantage into the break.
The second half would begin with a flurry of chances for Cornerstone, but none would find the target. That was until the Golden Eagles won a penalty kick after a Warrior foul in the 52
nd minute. Cornerstone would convert the penalty to tie the game at one with plenty of time to go for someone to find a winner. However, that winner would never come as both sides could not get by the goalkeepers a second time.
Sara Cogoli would make six stops for the Warriors in the draw.
The Warriors move to 2-5-2 overall on the season and 1-1-1 in WHAC play. Tech will stay on the road in their next contest on Wednesday at Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio on September 25
th at 7pm.
