FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team hosted Lourdes University on Wednesday night in a WHAC matchup that both sides came into perfect so far in conference play.
It was a physical game from the start, but the Warriors would come out on top through the first period of play.
Xambos Statiotis would take an ambitious attempt from a yard inside his own half and catch the Lourdes goalkeeper way off his line, scoring the opening goal of the game in the 25
th minute of the game. Tech would outshoot Lourdes in the first half 7-4 but would lead just 1-0 at the halftime break.
The physicality would continue in the second half with seven yellow cards and a red card in the 45-minute period. The Warriors would pick up the red card in the 71
st minute and be forced to try and defend their one goal lead down a man once again. That would only last a few moments as the Gray Wolves would equalize under two minutes later, totally taking control of the game. Tech would continue to persevere and show their fighting spirit, despite being down a player, as they have all season. In the 80

Tiago Dias would get on the end of a set piece and put the ball into the top left corner to shoot the Warriors ahead 2-1.
Emerson Nieto would assist both goals in the game for the Orange & Black. Lourdes would continue to pile on the pressure over the late stages of the match, trying to secure at least a point in the match between the two undefeated WHAC sides. Lourdes would outshoot Tech 9-4 in the second half, forcing Tech goalkeeper
Alex Kyriakides to keep the Warriors in the game. Kyriakides would finish the game a career high 9 saves in the match as Tech would hold on to the win. The sophomore from Nicosia, Cyprus picks up his fifth win in six games in goal.
Tech now sits at 5-1-2 overall on the season and stays perfect WHAC play at 4-0-0. The Warriors will play next on Saturday, September 28
th at home on Warrior Athletic Field at 1pm against Siena Heights University.
