FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team hit the floor on Wednesday evening, hosting Concordia University (Mich.) in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) showdown. After a slow start in the first half, the Warriors would go on to win 91-80 over the Cardinal and move to 14-5 overall on the season, while sitting at 11-1 in conference play.
The opening twenty minutes was a battle in which neither side was able to establish separation from the other. The Warriors were led by
Lucas Lyyski who tallied eleven points off the bench in the frame, including a triple as time expired to send the Orange and Black into the halftime break up 45-43. Alongside Lyyski,
Blake Davison chipped in ten points in the first half. Out of the break, the Warriors took control through a 16-4 run which saw Tech leading by 12. The Cardinals wouldn't go away easily but the outburst of offense in the opening nine minutes and 16 second-half points from
Nigel Martin kept the visitors in check as Tech would roll to a 91-80 victory.
Martin led the Warriors in scoring with 20 points off the bench while adding one rebound and one steal.
Blake Davison tallied 16 points, five rebounds, and six assists.
Crew Gibson posted a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds while matching Davison's team-high six assists.
Lucas Lyyski recorded 11 points and three rebounds.
Brady Titus added 10 points and four assists.
The Warriors are back in action on Saturday, January 25, as they travel to Adrian, Michigan, for a contest with Siena Heights. Tip-off against the Saints is set for 3:00 p.m.
