ADRIAN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team traveled to Adrian, Michigan, on Saturday afternoon to compete in a WHAC contest with Siena Heights University. Overcoming a slow start, the Warriors would go on to win 76-59. With the win, the Warriors move to 17-4 on the season and sit at 12-1 in conference play.
The opening quarter was a level contest between the two sides until a 4-0 run in the final minute and a half from the Saints saw the hosts leading 14-11 at the end of one. The Saints stretched their lead slightly over the opening two minutes of the second quarter, extending to their largest lead of the game, six points, with just over eight minutes to go. Taylor Covington and
Genevieve Decker helped set the Warriors straight as they doubled the Saints tally in the second quarter to take a 31-24 lead into the locker room. The uptick in offense continued in the second half, as the Orange and Black improved their efficiency every quarter. Tech shot 69.2% from the floor in the third, while extending their lead to a 13-point margin heading into the final ten minutes. The Warriors didn't slow down in the fourth shooting the ball at a 77.8% clip in the fourth to secure the 76-59 victory.
Decker led the side with 21 points, five rebounds, and a team-high seven assists.
Taylor Covington and
Lauren Barton both added 18 points, while Covington secured three rebounds and dished out six assists. Barton grabbed two boards.
Jaidyn Gulley led the side with nine rebounds, chipping in six points as well.
Tech travels to Lawrence Tech for a midweek game on Wednesday, January 29, at 5:30 p.m. for their next contest.
