SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team traveled to Southfield, Michigan, on Wednesday evening to take on Lawrence Tech. The Orange and Black took care of business against the Blue Devils in their first meeting of the season back on November 20, and the second meeting was no different. The Warriors were dominant from the off, winning 91-47.
The Warriors took control of the game out of the gate, led by
Juliana Burris and
Taylor Covington, who combined for 14 of Tech's 18 points in the first quarter. Defensively, the Warriors held the Blue Devils to one made field goal in the opening frame, establishing a 12-point lead heading into the second quarter. The Warrior offense picked up in the second quarter, shooting at an 80% clip on their way to scoring 30 points in the frame, led by
Genevieve Decker's 10, and extending their lead to a 48-22 margin headed into halftime. Out of the break, the Warriors continued to stretch their advantage, taking a 42-point lead with just under two minutes left in the third quarter. In the fourth, the Warriors took their largest lead of the evening, 45, before rolling to a 91-47 win.
Genevieve Decker led the Warriors with 21 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks.
Taylor Covington and
Juliana Burris both tallied 18 points, while Covington grabbed five boards and had seven assists. Burris secured six rebounds and completed her double-double with 10 assists.
With the win, Tech now stands at 18-4 overall and 13-1 conference. The Warriors will host Cleary University in their next contest on Saturday, February 1. Tip-off with the Cougars is set for 1:00 p.m.
