CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team traveled to Crestview Hills, Kentucky, on Thursday evening to take on Thomas More University. The Warriors took care of business on the road, sweeping the Saints in straight sets 25-18. 25-19, 25-14.
The Warriors got off to a hot start in the first set. While tied at two a 4-0 run put the Warriors on top by four points, giving them control. As the two sides matched each other, the margin stayed at four for most of the set, until another 4-0 run extended the advantage to eight, leading to an eventual 25-18 win in the opening set. Set two featured an even battle through the 10-10 mark, but a 5-0 run from the Orange and Black again put them in control. Shortly after the first, the Warriors went on another 5-0 run which put the set out of reach for the Saints as Tech took it 25-19. Tech carried the momentum from the first two sets into the third as they sprinted to a 16-6 lead, before seeing the set out to a 25-14 victory to complete the sweep.
Dylan Poore led the Warriors' attack with 12 kills, while also matching
Logan Gamero and
Logan Gieseke, posting team-highs in aces and blocks with two, respectively.
Daniel Mitsin distributed the ball nicely to his attackers, recording 25 assists in the contest.
Kristian Kold matched Mitsin with a team-high six digs.
The Warriors return to action on February 7 and 8 as they host Grand View, Lawrence Tech, and William Penn for the WHAC/Heart of America Crossover Tournament. Tech opens the event on Friday, matching up with William Penn. The first serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
