FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball returned to action on Saturday afternoon as they welcomed the Saints from Aquinas College to the Schaefer Center for a WHAC match-up. The Warriors put together a strong performance to grab a 65-52 victory from the Saints.
From the onset, the Warriors established a formidable presence, dominating the opening quarter to establish a double-figure lead that eventually culminated in a comfortable 32-21 lead over the Saints by halftime. Their momentum continued in the third quarter, further stretching the lead to 19 points. The Saints refused to go away quietly, though, as they cut the host's lead to seven as the two sides headed into the final quarter. The Saints kept the score close in the fourth but were never able to get closer to the Warriors than a seven-point margin, as the Warriors went on to win 65-52.
Taylor Covington led the effort with an impressive 24 points, complemented by solid contributions from
Genevieve Decker with 15 points and four rebounds, and
Lauren Barton, who added 12 points and eight rebounds to the Warriors' tally.
Juliana Burris rounded out her game with 9 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals.
With this win, Indiana Tech now has a 12-4 overall record and 7-1 in conference play. Looking ahead, the Warriors are set to take on Northwestern Ohio on January 8 as they travel to Lima, Ohio, for the contest.
