Men’s Soccer Wins Huge Top of the Table Tilt vs LTU

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 17 ranked Indiana Tech men's soccer team hosted Lawrence Tech University on Saturday afternoon in a huge WHAC showdown between two of the top teams in the conference. Lawrence Tech entered the day tied for first with a perfect 6-0 record, while the Warriors sat just one game behind the Blue Devils at 5-1.

The Warriors would get on the board right away after receiving a penalty kick in the opening minutes of play. Mark Mc Daid stepped up and buried the kick into the bottom right corner to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead in the 7th minute. The rest of the first half would fairly even with both sides trading blows, but the Warriors would keep their one goal advantage and carry it into the second half. Again, there would be little to separate the two sides as both desperately fought for a win in a game that will have big title deciding implications. Chaos would strike in the 76th minute when the Orange & Black scored a second goal to double the lead. However, controversy would arise after a conversation between the officials about a possible foul and offsides call during the buildup had the goal momentarily taken off the board, but after reconvening for another discussion, the goal would stand as originally called as Tech emerged with a huge 2-0 lead. Liam Arthur would score the goal after receiving a through ball in behind the defense from Alvaro Martin. The second goal would prove to be important as Lawrence Tech clawed back within one just four minutes later to make it 2-1 with about ten minutes remaining. The Blue Devils would throw everything forward trying to find an equalizer but it would come to no avail as the Warriors held on for the 2-1 victory to draw even in the conference standings. Gui Moreira led the Tech offense with four shots and two on goal, while Cuba Grant picked up the win in goal, making five saves.

The Warriors get to double digit wins on the season as they sit at 10-3-1 overall and 6-1-0 in WHAC play after the win. Tech will go back on the road for a game at Cleary University on Wednesday, October 15th at 6pm in Howell, Michigan.
