FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team completed the season sweep of the Northwestern Ohio Racers on Wednesday evening on their home floor. After taking the away leg of the season series in 3-0 fashion back in September, the Warriors accomplished the same feat in the Schaefer Center, winning 25-9, 25-21, and 25-19.
In the opening set, the Warriors were dominant as they controlled the set. From the 5-5 point, the Warriors would outscore the Racers 20-4 to take the first set 25-9. The Racers kept the second set closer, but the Warriors remained in the driver's seat for most of the set. Despite a late push from the visitors, the Warriors remained on top to take the set 25-21. In the third set with the score tied 9-9, the deciding factor was a seven-point run from the Warriors. After taking the seven-point advantage, the Warriors wouldn't give it up, going on to win the set 25-19. Despite leading the back half of the third set, the highlight of the match came during the Warriors' first point of the third set when
Emiline Wood recorded her 1000
th career dig.
Lauren Snyder led the Warriors' attack with 11 kills, followed closely by
Hannah Teich with nine. Teich also led the side in aces and blocks with five and one, respectively. Matching Teich's block tally were
Jacqueline Allaway,
Jaycee Strawsma, and
Lauren Paska.
Kristin Matlack and
Isabella Assaley each posted 16 assists.
Emiline Wood held down the back line with 10 digs, including her 1000
th career tally.
The Warriors sit at 16-9 for the season and 9-4 in conference play. The Orange and Black prepare for a big weekend coming up, where they will host the top two sides in the conference, starting with first-place Aquinas on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
