GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 16 ranked Indiana Tech men's soccer team hit the road for a conference matchup against Aquinas College on Saturday afternoon. Coming into the game, the Warriors would sit in a four-way tie for first atop the conference with three games remaining, meaning all three games would have massive implications on the title race.
The scoreline would not be the tell of the tape in this one as the Warriors would dominate the box score but lose the contest 1-2. Tech would score first with
Jahiem Rose converting on an
Emerson Nieto pass to make it 1-0. But the Saints would equalize in the 38
th minute on a penalty kick to tie the game at one before halftime. The Warriors would double the Aquinas shot total in the first half at 10-5, but the game would sit at 1-1 after 45 minutes. Tech would again outshoot the Saints in the second half, this time 11-2, however Aquinas would find a way to convert one of their chances for the winning goal in the 77
th minute of the game. The Warriors would force the Aquinas keeper into 12 saves on the day but would only be able to get past him once as the score would sit at 1-2 after 90 minutes of play.
Cuba Grant would make three saves in goal for the Warriors.
Tech now sits at 11-4-1 overall and 7-2-0 in WHAC play with two regular season games remaining. The Warriors will host the #22 University of Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday, October 22
nd at 1pm at Warrior Athletic Field in a huge, ranked matchup between two teams with WHAC title aspirations.
