FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team began their 2025-26 campaign in the Schaefer Center on Tuesday evening as they hosted Indiana University Northwest. With a strong performance to start the season, Tech would come away with a victory, winning 83-74.
The opening half of the Warriors' season was an even battle with the two sides level with 12 points apiece, with just over 14 minutes left. Across the next four minutes, the visitors would take their largest lead of the contest, six points, to lead 24-18 at the 10:44 mark. Tech immediately responded with an 8-0 run, as a pair of triples from
Evan Haroldson and two free throws from
Blake Davison would put the Warriors in the lead. Down the stretch, the Warriors held a narrow lead, extending it to as much as eight before taking a four-point advantage into the midway break.
The first seven minutes of the second half played out much like the first half. Tech held a narrow lead but was unable to create much separation from the RedHawks. That changed midway through the half as the Warriors would take advantage of a short run, taking a 59-50 lead with 10:48 left to go. This lift was what the Warriors needed, as they were able to stave off any comeback attempt from the RedHawks in the final ten minutes, taking an 83-74 victory to start the season.
The trio of
Jaxson Fugate,
Blake Davison, and
Logan Beaston led the Warriors in scoring with 26, 23, and 13, respectively. Fugate added nine rebounds, three blocks, and three steals. Davison grabbed four rebounds, dished out seven assists, and had four steals. In his first game as a Warrior, Beaston would grab 10 rebounds to tally a double-double, add three assists, and swipe four steals.
The Warriors move to 1-0 to start the season and prepare for the WHAC/CL Challenge this weekend, hosted by Cornerstone University. Tech opens the event against RV Spring Arbor University on Friday at 5:30 p.m. before facing off with the No. 6-ranked Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
