Warriors Advance to WHAC Semifinal With Thrilling 3-2 Win Over LTU

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team kicked off their postseason run on Wednesday evening as they hosted Lawrence Tech University in the Quarterfinal round of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament. Playing the Blue Devils for the second time in as many games, the Warriors would again come out on top, winning 3-2, 22-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-17, and 15-13.

After trading points with the Blue Devils early, the Warriors would take the momentum behind a 6-0 run, giving them a 17-13 lead. Two points later, the Blue Devils would respond with a 5-0 run to retake the lead. After trading a few more points, the visitors would take the opening set 25-22. Set two started like the first, but midway through the frame, a 9-3 run from the Warriors would create the separation they needed. Despite a late push from LTU, the seven-point lead established by the Warriors earlier in the set was enough to hold off the comeback attempt, as Tech would take the set 25-20. The Blue Devils came flying out of the gate in the third set, opening the frame on a 6-0 run. Tech slowly chipped away at the lead, and eventually came all the way back, taking a 19-18 lead. LTU responded with a 3-0 run in crunch time, which lifted them to a 25-23 win. The turning point in the fourth set was a 9-1 run by the Warriors, which would give them a 19-12 lead. Once they had the lead, they would go on to win the set 25-17. The visitors again took an early lead in the final set, winning the race to 8 and forcing the side change. The momentum shifted in favor of the Warriors after a replay challenge, which favored Tech, shifted the score from a 10-13 deficit to an 11-12 deficit. From there, the Warriors would close the set on a 4-1 run, winning 15-13 to advance to the WHAC Semifinal.

Lauren Snyder led the Warriors' attack with 19 kills. Emiline Wood and Hannah Teich each posted five service aces. Jacqueline Allaway led the front line defensively with eight blocks. Kristin Matlack led the team with 30 assists, while Wood led the back line with 28 digs.

The Warriors advance to the WHAC Tournament Semifinal game on Friday, November 14, where they will meet Cornerstone University. The match will be played inside the Sturrus Athletic Center on the campus of Aquinas College.
