Warriors Defend Second Half Push to Take Down Cougars

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team returned to the floor on Saturday afternoon, hosting cross-town rival Saint Francis in a non-conference showdown. In the offensive battle, the Warriors came out on top, winning 94-85.

The two sides matched each other through the opening five minutes, with the score level at 10 apiece with 15 minutes left in the half. A 7-0 run from the Warriors would shift momentum towards the hosts. Tech would take that momentum and stretch their advantage to as much as 12 with just under nine minutes to go. The Cougars would battle back, cutting the lead to a two-point margin, but the Warriors closed the half with a 5-0 run to take a 47-40 lead into the break. Out of the break, the Warriors picked up where they left off as a triple from Steele Brasfield would start a 14-2 run in the first three minutes, putting Tech up 61-42. The Warriors would stay hot over the next two minutes, extending the lead to a 20-point margin, 69-49, at the fifteen-minute mark. The next five minutes would favor the Cougars, as they battled back into the game, cutting the Warriors' lead to seven with just over 10 left. USF continued to chip away, pulling within four with six minutes left on the clock. Down the stretch, the Warriors' defense stayed strong as they held on to win 94-85.

Jaxson Fugate led the Warriors' offense with a double-double of 22 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists. Also scoring in double figures were Steele Brasfield with 15 points and two rebounds, Logan Beaston with 14 points and six rebounds, Blake Davison with 11 points and seven assists, and Dallas Roberts with 12 points and two rebounds.
