LIMA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team took a trip to Lima, Ohio, on Wednesday evening for the opening game of their conference season. There, the Warriors would match up with the Racers from the University of Northwestern Ohio, coming away with a 98-88 win.
The first half was a back-and-forth battle. The Warriors would control the opening five minutes, leading by as many as five points. Over the next five minutes, the momentum would swing in favor of the hosts as they would grab a six-point lead with over ten minutes left to go. The combo of
Branden Northern's 17 points and
Blake Davison's 10 helped Tech retake the lead down the stretch, but a triple from the hosts in the final second sent Tech into the locker room with a 47-45 advantage. Across the opening four minutes of the second half, the Warriors would stretch their lead to 10 points. The second half tandem of
Jaxson Fugate and
Logan Beaston, who scored 16 and 15, respectively, helped keep the Orange and Black in front through the remainder of the contest.
Beaston would pace the Warriors with 21 points, all of which came from beyond the three-point line. He added four rebounds and one assist. Fugate added 20 points, two rebounds, and a team-high six assists. Davison and Northern each tallied 17 points. Davison would add five rebounds and four assists to his stat line, while Northern grabbed six boards and swiped three steals.
Steele Brasfield also scored in double figures with 13 points, six rebounds, and one block.
Tech improves to 5-1 on the season, opening conference play at 1-0. The Warriors return home for their next contest, hosting Aquinas College on Saturday, November 22, for a 3:00 p.m. start.
