FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team took the floor on Saturday afternoon for their second straight top-10 matchup, this time hosting the No.7-ranked Cougars from the University of Saint Francis. In a defensive battle, the Warriors would come up short, falling to the Cougars 50-60.
It was a slow opening quarter as both offenses struggled to find their footing, but the Warriors would hold a narrow 11-9 lead headed into the second. In the second, the offenses started to find their rhythm, while Tech maintained control through the frame, taking a 28-23 lead into the locker room. Out of the break, the Warriors would hold their lead to start the third, stretching to a six-point advantage. The tide would shift with three minutes left in the frame as the Cougars' offense would end the quarter on an 8-0 run to take a 42-38 lead into the final quarter. Tech battled back to level the score early in the fourth, but the offense would struggle to find the basket as the Cougars would hold on to win 60-50.
Gabby Richie led the Warriors' offense with 12 points, one rebound, and one assist.
Taylor Covington would add eight points, two rebounds, and two assists.
Jaidyn Gulley led the side with 10 rebounds, while chipping in four points.
Tech moves to 2-2 on the season. The Warriors now prepare for the start of WHAC play as they will travel to Lima, Ohio, for their first conference matchup with Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday, November 19, at 5:30 p.m.
