LIMA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team kicked off their conference campaign on Wednesday evening with a trip to Lima, Ohio, to take on the Racers of the University of Northwestern Ohio. Tech would come away with a dominant 80-59 victory in hand.
The Warriors got off to a fast start in the first quarter, leading 20-12 after the opening ten minutes. The Warriors' defense caused the Racers problems in the opening frame, forcing six turnovers, which Tech converted into 10 points. Again, the Warriors' defense was stout in the second quarter, causing another seven turnovers, which turned into seven points for the Orange and Black.
Taylor Covington's seven points led the Warriors in the frame, lifting them to a 39-22 lead at the half. In the second half, the Warriors kept their foot on the accelerator, stretching the lead to a 27-point margin in the fourth quarter, before settling for an 80-59 win.
Jaidyn Gulley paced the Warriors with a 25-point and 12-rebound double-double, adding two assists as well.
Taylor Covington went for 22 points, posted four blocks, and dished out a team-high six assists.
The Warriors move to 3-2 on the season and begin 1-0 in conference play. Up next, the Warriors return home for a contest with the Aquinas College Saints on Saturday, November 22, starting at 1:00 p.m.
