Warriors Control Start to Finish in 71-49 Win Over Saints

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team returned to action on Saturday afternoon, hosting Aquinas College for their first home conference game of the season. After a strong second and third quarters, the Warriors would come away with a dominant 71-49 win.
 
The Warriors got off to a fast start in the first quarter. The offense was efficient, shooting 56.3% from the floor while the defense forced six turnovers in the frame, resulting in Tech holding a 20-10 advantage heading into the second quarter. Again, in the second, the Warriors won the turnover battle, forcing four more in the frame. Led by Taylor Covington's 14 points, the Warrior offense continued to roll, taking a 35-22 lead into the midway break. Out of the break, Tech would continue where they left off offensively. A trio of triples from Durbin Thomas in the frame would help the Warriors extend the lead to a 20-point margin. In the fourth, the Warriors slowed the game down while still holding control, cruising to a 71-49 victory.
 
Taylor Covington led the Warriors with 21 points, three assists, and three steals. Durbin Thomas chipped in 18 points, five boards, and two steals. Ryan Moorer added 17 points and eight rebounds. Jaidyn Gulley was dominant on the glass, corralling 13 rebounds, chipping in five points, and five assists as well.
 
The Warriors move to 4-2 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. The Warriors will return to the floor on Tuesday, November 25, hosting Cleary University at 6:00 p.m.
