Covington's 25 Paces Warriors Past Wolverines

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team returned to action on Saturday afternoon, hosting the University of Michigan-Dearborn Wolverines in a WHAC showdown. Getting off on the front foot, the Warriors would control the contest from the start, rolling to a 91-32 win.
 
From the off, the Warriors were in the driver's seat, opening the contest on a 10-4 run across the first five minutes. Taylor Covington's 13 points in the frame would pace the Warriors to a 23-8 lead heading into the second quarter. Tech continued to control the game in the second. Defensive pressure led to offense in the second quarter as the Warriors' strong front forced nine turnovers, turning them into 12 points. The offense was efficient in its efforts, shooting at a 62.5% clip, and held a 49-15 lead headed into the break. Out of the break, the Warriors continued to dominate on the defensive side of the ball, forcing another five turnovers in the frame and holding the Wolverines to four field goals, resulting in a 67-25 margin heading into the final quarter. It was more of the same in the fourth as the Warriors stretched their lead on their way to a 91-32 win.
 
Taylor Covington led the Warriors with 25 points, three rebounds, and seven assists. Ryan Moorer added 18 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Durbin Thomas chipped in 12 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Jacklyn Crews added 10 points off the bench, grabbing four rebounds and chipping in four assists.
 
The Warriors move to 7-3 on the season and sit 5-1 in conference play. The Warriors travel to Oakland City, Indiana, for their next contest, where they will face the Mighty Oaks of Oakland City University on December 17 at 1:00 p.m. (CT).
