Women’s Basketball Eases Past Defiance on the Road

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The #22 ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team went on the road Saturday for an afternoon contest against WHAC opponent Defiance College. The Warriors would take care of business in their final game before the holiday break, defeating the Yellow Jackets 88-40.
 
Tech would get off to a quick start in this one with a 9-0 run to begin the game. They would lead 23-6 after the first quarter of play and would never look back. By the half, the Warrior lead had grown to 23, courtesy of a 13-0 run to end the second quarter. Taylor Covington would lead all players with 15 points at the half, while Ryan Moorer nearly had a double double with eight points and nine rebounds. Covington would pick up right where she left off as the Warriors offense would erupt for 33 points in the third quarter. The senior guard scored 13 points in the quarter alone, while eight total Warriors would score in the period. Tech led 72-30 heading into the final ten minutes of action and continued to win in the fourth as they finished it off with an 88-40 conference road victory.
 
The Orange & Black put up strong team performances on both sides of the ball. It is the third straight game scoring 88+ points, while the Warrior defense held the Yellow Jackets to just 27.6% shooting from the field and 16.7% from three-point range. They would also record ten steals and force 16 Defiance turnovers, leading to 18 Warrior points. Covington would lead all scorers with 30, also adding five assists, three rebounds, and two steals. Moorer would finish with a 12-point, 11 rebound double double, also adding three assists and two steals.
 
Tech will have a ten-day break over the holidays before their next game on December 30th. The Warriors will play Taylor University in Upland, Indiana at 6pm.
