ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team hit the road on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Rochester Hills, Michigan, to take on Rochester Christian University. In a tight battle, a late push from Tech would come up short as the Orange and Black would fall 53-54.
The opening stages of the first quarter were slow for both sides, as the first bucket came at the 6:11 mark as
Durbin Thomas connected from beyond the three-point line. Tech offense continued to struggle across the final six minutes of the frame, while the hosts would build a six-point, 15-9, lead heading into the second quarter. Again, in the second, both sides struggle to get into a rhythm on the offensive side of the ball, but a lay-in in the final seconds of the half saw RCU take a 27-19 lead into the break. Out of the break, the Warriors would cut RCU's lead down to two with 3:33 left in the quarter, but in the closing minutes, the hosts would extend the lead back to seven. In the fourth, Tech battled back into the game with a 16-0 run, which saw them grab a five-point lead. In the closing seconds, a pair of free throws from the hosts would give them a one-point advantage, leading to a 53-54 decision in favor of RCU.
Durbin Thomas led the Warriors with a game-high 19 points, four rebounds, and one assist.
Madison Vice tallied 12 points.
Ryan Moorer added 10 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.
Tech moves to 6-3 on the season and 4-1 in conference play. Up next, the Warriors return to the Schaefer Center where they will host UM-Dearborn on Saturday, December 13, starting at 1:00 p.m.
