MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team returned to action on Tuesday evening, traveling to Mishawaka, Indiana, to take on the Bethel University Pilots in a conference contest. The Orange and Black took care of business in three sets, winning 26-24, 25-22, and 25-23.
The Warriors got off to a strong start in the first set, jumping to an early 11-3 lead. Through the course of the set, the hosts slowly fought their way back into the set, leveling the score at 22 for the first tie of the set. After trading points,
Dylan Poore claimed the set with an ace to win 26-24. Set two was another fast start for the Warriors as they took a 9-3 lead. The hosts, again, battled back but were unable to overcome the early deficit as Tech led from start to finish, winning the set 25-22. The third set was a level contest through the early stages, with the hosts grabbing a narrow edge, leading 21-17. The Orange and Black took advantage of a Pilots service error, going on a 6-0 run to grab a 23-21 lead, holding on to win 25-23.
Dylan Poore led the Warriors' attack with 13 kills and two aces. Clayton Wheatly matched Poore's tally with two aces as well.
Zack Karns led the side with three blocks. Daniel Mitsen posted 33 assists in the match, and
Jacob Carrico added seven digs.
The Warriors travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan, for their next contest on Friday, February 21, where they will take on Aquinas College beginning at 7:00 p.m.
