Strong Second Half Lifts Warriors Past Cornerstone on Senior Day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team wrapped up their regular season on Saturday, hosting Cornerstone University for senior day. After a strong second half, the Warriors stormed past the Golden Eagles, winning 72-57.

Through the opening ten minutes, there was little that separated the teams as Tech held a one-point 25-24 lead. Again, in the second quarter, neither side was able to establish an advantage as the two sides were deadlocked at 32 going into the midway break. The opening stages of the third quarter played out similarly to the first half, with neither side able to establish much of an advantage. With just under three minutes to go in the third, the Orange and Black went on a short 8-0 run to take their first double-digit lead of the game. Cornerstone responded, cutting the lead to six heading into the final quarter, but the Warriors' defense in the final frame held the visitors to seven points on their way to the victory.

Taylor Covington led the way for Tech with 25 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Genevieve Decker posted 21 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Juliana Burris added 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Jaidyn Gulley led the side with 11 rebounds.

The Warriors wrapped up the regular season with a record of 24-4 and claimed the conference title with a record of 19-1. Up next, the Warriors begin their postseason run on Wednesday evening, hosting the winner of the No. 8 vs No. 9 matchup in the WHAC Tournament.
