FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team kicked off their postseason run on Thursday evening as they welcomed the Saints of Aquinas College to the Schaefer Center for the WHAC Tournament Quarterfinal match-up.
It didn't take long for the Warriors to grab control of the contest as they opened on an 11-3 run across the opening five minutes. After the fast start for the Warriors, the Saints found their footing cutting the lead to a two-point deficit 11-13 with just under 12 minutes left to play. Down the stretch the Warriors, led by
Blake Davison's 11 and
Lucas Lyyski's 10 points, retook control, holding a 49-30 lead heading into halftime. Out of the break, the Warriors didn't slow down. Led by
Jaxson Fugate's 11 points, the Orange and Black extended their lead to as much as 34 points on their way to a 96-68 victory.
Jaxson Fugate led all scorers with 15 points off the bench, adding three rebounds and two assists.
Crew Gibson posted 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists.
Blake Davison tallied 13 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.
Brady Titus recorded 11 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
Lucas Lyyski added 10 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks.
With the win the Warriors now sit at 22-6 on the season and advance to the WHAC Tournament Semifinal game, where they will match up against the No. 5 seed, Madonna Crusaders. The Warriors will host the Semifinal in the Schaefer Center on Saturday, March 1, with tip-off set for 3:00 p.m.
