FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The #8 Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team played their second straight top ten opponent on Friday evening, hosting #3 the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.).
The Patriots would take over in the first quarter jumping out to a 5-0 lead by the sound of the first horn. It wasn't until
Brook Maul's goal at 10:28 of the second quarter when the Warriors would finally get on the board.
Kylie King would grab a second for Tech under two minutes later to make it 2-7. After going down 2-9,
Michelle Farrell would attempt to put the Warriors on her back scoring four of the next five goals in the game to help bring Tech back, making it 6-10 just before half. The two sides would trade goals to start the second half as the Warriors would stay in the game but couldn't close the gap.
Da'zah Regusters would score to make it 10-14 with 10:29 left to play in the game but the Patriots would rattle off three straight to put the game out of reach and finishing off the Warriors by a final of 18-11. Farrell would lead the Orange & Black with six points, scoring five goals.
Cyena Williams would pick up a team high six ground balls, while Regusters would lead the squad in caused turnovers with three.
Lauren Hainlin would finish with four draw controls and one goal.
Kat Hoff would start in goal for the Warriors making two saves in just under nine minutes of action, while
Sydney Oberdorfer would make nine saves over the final 51 minutes of play.
The Warriors move to 1-2 on the season and will get ready for Saint Mary's College (Ind.) on Thursday, March 6th at 5pm at Warrior Athletic Field in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
