Tech Takes Down Wolverines in Dearborn

DEARBORN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team returned to the floor on Wednesday evening, traveling to Dearborn, Michigan, to take on the Wolverines from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. A strong second quarter helped lift the Warriors past the Wolverines in a 78-48 victory.
 
Tech got off to a fast start, opening the contest on an 8-2 run spanning the first three minutes, but the hosts quickly responded with a 7-0 run of their own to take a 9-8 lead. The final three minutes of the frame were a battle that saw the Warriors hold a three-point advantage heading into the second quarter. The Warriors took control of the contest in the second quarter as the defense stiffened, only allowing eight points while the offense, led by Taylor Covington's 10 points, tallied 22, carrying a 17-point margin into the locker room. Out of the break, the squads matched each other shot for shot with an 18-point barrier between the sides heading into the final ten minutes. The fourth quarter was similar to the second as the Orange and Black went off for 22 points in the quarter while the defense allowed just 10, securing the 78-48 win.
 
Taylor Covington led the way with 24 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Genevieve Decker tallied 18 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Lauren Barton posted a double-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists. Jaidyn Gulley was a point shy of her double-double, corralling 10 rebounds, while chipping in nine points.
 
Tech now sits at 20-4 on the season and 15-1 in conference play. Up next, the Orange and Black will host Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday, February 12, at 6:00 p.m.
