Warriors Drop All Three at No. 16 IU Southeast

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The Indiana Tech baseball team traveled to New Albany, Indiana, for a midweek three-game series with the No. 16 ranked Grenadiers of IU Southeast. The series opened with a doubleheader on Tuesday, where Tech dropped both ends 0-4 and 6-10, before a single nine-inning game on Wednesday. The Warriors fell 3-9 in the final game of the series.

The series opener was a pitching battle through the first four innings, with the hosts plating one run, while holding Tech scoreless. In the fifth, the Grenadiers added two more runs to extend their lead to three runs. Adding a fourth run in the sixth, the hosts continued to keep the Warriors' bats at bay, posting a shutout.

Tech's bats came alive in the second game as they opened with a four-run first inning, as Ben Morrison had three RBIs with a three-run shot. The Grenadiers added one in the bottom of the first, cutting Tech's lead to three. The third inning was the reciprocal of the first as a Jordan Malott sacrifice fly added one run for the Warriors, but the hosts would plate four runs in the bottom half of the inning to level the score. The Grenadiers took their first lead of game two an inning later as they added one run. Their lead was leveled as Ben Morrison added his fourth RBI of the game with a single to right in the top of the fifth, but the hosts responded once again with a single run in the fifth to retake the lead. After a scoreless top half from Tech, IU Southeast added three more runs to their total in the sixth to take game two.

IU Southeast had a fast start to the final game of the series, plating four runs in the first inning. Tech took one back in the second, but the hosts added two more runs in their half of the second, extending their lead. Tech would add two more runs in the contest, but the six runs scored in the first two innings were too much to overcome.

The Warriors now sit at 8-7 on the season and begin their conference campaign on Saturday, March 15, hosting Michigan-Dearborn for a doubleheader.
