SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Warrior men's volleyball team hit the road for their second contest with the Lourdes University Gray Wolves on Friday evening, traveling to Sylvania, Ohio. After taking the season's first meeting in a five-set thriller at home, the Warriors came up short on the road, falling 0-3 with scores of 20-25, 11-25, 18-25.
In the first set, the Warriors trailed early as the hosts opened the set with three straight points. The Gray Wolves continued to hold momentum, stretching their lead to as much as six points at the 15-9 mark, but Tech would battle back, closing the gap to just two points, 16-18. From there the hosts stymied the Warriors' comeback attempt, winning the race to 25 with a 7-4 run to close the set. Opening set two, the Warriors grabbed a 3-2 lead, but the hosts responded with seven straight points. From there the Gray Wolves didn't slow down on their way to a 25-11 set two victory. The third set was level through the early goings as both sides held the lead, but a late run from the hosts ensured they would take the set and claim the match.
Tech's attack was led by
Logan Gieseke with nine kills, while
Jacob Carrico had the Warriors' lone ace of the contest.
Zack Karns,
Ben Rosenow, and
Logan Gamero all had one block.
Daniel Mitsin led the side with 21 assists and seven digs.
The Warriors are back in action on Saturday afternoon as they host the Saints of Siena Heights. The first serve in the Schaefer Center is set for 3:00 p.m.
