HOWELL, Mich. – The Warrior baseball team hit the road on Friday afternoon for a conference doubleheader with the Cleary University Cougars at Lake Trust Stadium in Howell, Michigan. Winning both ends of the doubleheader 9-4 and 8-5, head coach

th season at the helm for the Warriors. McWilliams now holds a 601-366-2 record as the Warriors' head coach.
In game one of the doubleheaders, the Warriors got on the board first as a
Logan Rybarczyk double scored
Garrett Rainey. In the fourth, the Orange and Black tallied five more runs, three of which came off a base-clearing triple from
Alex Watkins. Tech added another run in the fifth off a long ball from
Brycen Hannah. The Cougars got on the board in the fifth, scoring three runs, followed by a lone run in the sixth, cutting Tech's lead to a 7-4 margin. The Warriors added two more insurance runs in the top of the seventh on their way to the 9-4 victory.
Grant Besser picked up the win on the bump, throwing 4.1 innings. During his outing, he allowed two runs on four hits, while striking out six of the 19 batters he faced.
Like the first game, Tech tallied a run in the top of the first inning to open the contest's scoring. The Warriors' lead was short-lived, though, as the Cougars brought in three runs in the bottom half of the inning. After four innings of a stalemate, the Warriors leveled the score with two runs in the top of the sixth inning. In the bottom of the seventh, the Cougars retook the lead with one run. Tech responded with three runs in the eighth inning, taking their first lead since the first inning, leading 6-4. Tech added two insurance runs in the top of the ninth inning, closing the door on a Cougar comeback, to sweep the doubleheader.
Danny May got the win on the mound for the Warriors, throwing 2.2 innings in which he gave up one run on one hit, striking out six of the 11 batters he faced.
Tech moves to 17-8 on the season, remaining unbeaten in conference play at 8-0. The Warriors are back in action on Saturday afternoon as they take on Lawrence Tech on the road in Utica, Michigan, starting at 1:00 p.m.
