Warriors Fall to Cornerstone in Overtime of WHAC Tournament Final

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team returned to action on Tuesday evening, hosting Cornerstone University for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament Final. In an overtime thriller, the Golden Eagles outlasted the Warriors to claim the WHAC Tournament title.

Coming off semifinal games where the two finalists scored a combined 212 points, it was the defenses that were on display in the opening stages of the first half, as neither side's offense could find a rhythm. With the game level at 10, the visitors would go on a 10-5 run over five minutes to build a slight cushion between the sides. Cornerstone stretched their lead to as much as six, leading 29-23 with 4:12 to go in the opening half, but the Warriors would close the last four minutes on a 14-0 run to grab an eight-point, 37-29 lead heading into the break. Out of the intermission, the Golden Eagles chipped their way back into the contest, leveling the score at 47 with 13:54 to go and went on to take the lead with 12:04 to go. Down the stretch, there was nothing that could separate the squads, and trialing by two Brady Titus knocked down a pair of free throws with 59 seconds to go which would send the game into overtime. In the extra time, the Warriors' offense went cold connecting on three of their eight attempts as Cornerstone went on to close the game, winning 79-71.

Crew Gibson posted a double-double with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and one assist. Brady Titus added 19 points, two rebounds, and one assist. Dallas Roberts tallied 10 points, five rebounds, and one assist.

The Warriors sit at 23-7 on the season and now wait to find out their NAIA National Tournament first-round destination. The NAIA will announce the full 64-team field, along with where the Warriors are headed on March 6 at 7:00 p.m. CT on the NAIA Network.
