FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Warrior baseball team was back in action on Wednesday afternoon as they hosted Indiana University Kokomo for a single nine-inning contest at the Warrior Baseball Field in Fort Wayne. After downing the Saint Francis Cougars on Tuesday, the Warriors came up short against the IUK Cougars, falling 10-6.
The two sides were scoreless through the opening inning, but the Cougars' offense came to life in the second, scoring three runs with one swing of the bat. Tech drew two runs back in the third, cutting the Cougars' lead to 3-2. The fourth inning was the first of the contest where both offenses were busy, as the visitors tallied two runs, while Tech scored one. After a scoreless fifth, the offenses sparked back to life in the sixth as the Cougars added three to their tally, while the Warriors plated two runs. After Tech cut the Cougars' lead to two with a run in the seventh, the visitors plated two runs in the eighth to go up 10-6, which would go on to be the final score. Tech's offense was led by
Jordan Malott, who tallied three hits in five at-bats.
Noah McEldowney led the side with three RBIs.
The Warriors move to 25-14 on the season, remaining 15-5 in conference play. The Warriors hit the road for their next contest, traveling to Defiance, Ohio, on Friday, April 18, for a conference doubleheader with the Defiance College Yellow Jackets.
