Warriors Drop Both Against Concordia

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech baseball team returned to action on Saturday afternoon, hosting the Concordia University Cardinals. Playing their third and fourth straight game against the Cardinals, the Warriors dropped both games 6-2 in game one and 7-1 in game two.

Game one of the contest was a defensive battle as both sides were deadlocked at zero through four innings. In the fifth, the Cardinals broke the tie with a pair of home runs that would bring home four runs. The visitors would add two more runs in the seventh, leading 6-0 headed into the final half-inning. Tech drove in two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but came up short in their comeback effort, falling 6-2. Jordan Malott and Garrett Rainey led Tech with two hits each, while Malott recorded two RBIs.

In game two, the Cardinals struck first again, this time with a single run in the second inning. In the fourth, the visitors would double their lead with their second solo shot of the game. The Cardinals added two more to their tally in the fifth and drove in one run in each of the final three innings. The Warriors' offensive struggles continued as their lone run came off a solo home run from Jack Ferguson in the seventh inning.

Tech moves to 29-18 overall and 18-8 in conference play. The Warriors are back in action on Sunday afternoon, hosting Aquinas College for their final doubleheader of the regular season at 1:00 p.m.
