FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team started the 2025 season with a home game against Taylor University on Thursday night. The Trojans would use a big second half to defeat the take down the Warriors on their home field.
In the opener, the Warriors would start off slow as the Trojans controlled the beginning stages of the contest. After the nerves settled, Tech would start to gain some possession, getting the ball forward into the offensive third. However, the Trojans turned up the pressure, taking back control for the remainder of the first half. Freshman goalkeeper
Madison Strain would make some highlight reel saves for the Warriors throughout the first 45 minutes to keep the game level, but Taylor would finally find a way past Strain with just over four minutes to go in the first half. Strain would finish the half with an impressive ten saves, but the Trojans led 1-0 going into halftime. Another freshman keeper would make her debut for the Warriors in this one as
Bre Wheatley would play the second half in goal for Tech. Wheatley would keep the Trojans off the board until the 54
th minute when they scored off a header from a corner kick to make it 2-0. This would open the door for the visitors as they rattled off three more goals over the next 13 minutes to put the game out of reach. Taylor would add another late goal as well, finishing with a 6-0 win over the Warriors. Wheatley would finish with five saves for Tech, while senior
Addie Nellis would register the lone shot on goal for the Warriors.
Tech starts the season off 0-1-0 and will look to rebound against Grace College (Ind.) on Wednesday, August 27
th at home at 7pm on Warrior Athletic Field.
